- On an 8 bit Indy, the colors look like cartoons, especially cpk. This can
be fixed by Session->Environment->RGB_Mode->RGBMode On. The colors will be
better at this point, but still lack resolution. This is due to the SGI
double buffering. To get the best image possible, you will want single
buffering by Session->Environment->Single_Buffer->SingleBuffering On. This
will produce a good image that will refresh VERY slowly. You will also see
it redraw since you are in single buffer mode. Set up the image using the
cartoons and then change over for the final image.
- Creating stereo figures from InsightII
Get it all set up like you like it, but not in stereo. Grab
an image of it and leave some room around the sides. Name this image
something_left.rgb. If you have more than one molecule, group them all in
an assembly. Now go to Transform->Rotate and rotate the molecule (or
assembly), Relative, +5 degrees in Y. Grab another image, keeping the box
dimensions, and name it something_right.rgb. Showcase can read these two
images in. Scale them down together to be sure they are the same size. Use
the shift key while scaling to maintain the aspect ratio. I usually place
them side by side (using align) and get them close enough to produce good
stereo, then draw a black box around them to even the margins and fill in
any white space between them. Next is labeling. Don't do it in insight. You
can make stereo labels in showcase. Make a label and position it on the
left side. Now make the same label for the right side and use align to
align their bottoms. Get the image in stereo and move one of the labels
left and right to adjust its depth.
