Thanks for your help.

I tried to use gfortran:

setenv LD_LIBRARY_PATH
/root/gcc-4.3-x86-64-linux/gcc-4.3/lib:/lib:/lib64:/usr/lib:/usr/lib64:/usr/X11R6/lib:/usr/X11R6/lib64

./configure_amber -static gfortran -> successful

The compiling details are shown in the two attachments: one attachment
is make_serial from the following:
make serial > make_serial

The other attachment includes warnings and errors from make serial:
warning_errors
