The Amber web site says this: Amber 9 should function "out of the box" on
Macintosh, both with G4/G5 and Intel chips. Please report problems to the
Amber mail reflector.

So, if you have problems, please report them! (I'd guess the g95/gcc
combination of compilers is the most likely to work)
