Subject: AMBER: compiler for amber8 on opteron

Dear List Members

We have dual Opteron computers with RedHat Enterprise Linux 4 and would
like to install amber. We don't have any of the listed compilers in the
configure script. Looking through the mailing list archive and web
pages it seems that the compilers from Portland Group are the only
onces which can be used for this configuration. Is this correct?
Furthermore, I would like to know if it sufficient to buy just PGHPF
Workstation and use gcc or should we go for the complete package PGI
Workstation for performance reasons? Thanks for any tips.
