It would be useful to see the where in the output this occurs,
and to know what kind of machine it is on.

It is a system error that in principle might come when either
opening, reading, or writing a file.

The 'limit' command may give useful information here, e.g. on
one machine:

% limit
 ...
filesize unlimited
 ...

If you have a filesize limit, you may be able to solve it by

% unlimit filesize
