Alan asked about some undefined mpi_* references when building sander.
I believe you'll need something in your LOADLIB definition to pull in
the MPI libraries. I don't know what MPI is in use, but a guess at
the right incantation would be

LOADLIB="-L/user/mpich/lib -lfmpich -lmpich"
