Hydrophobic Interactions Between Calmodulin and Myosin Light Chain Kinase Peptide

Hydrophobic interactions between calmodulin and myosin light chain kinase peptide. Calmodulin is colored grey and the MLCK peptide is colored black. The van der Waals surfaces of the hydrophobic anchors on either end of the peptide (Trp800 and Leu813) are shown in black dots. The va der Waals surfaces of the hydrophobic residues in calmodulin which interact with these anchors are shown in grey dots. The molecular structure and surfaces were rendered in Insight using PDB coordinates 2BBM.
