This page is for text-based searches of the HTML pages that constitute the Data Library. It is also possible to directly query the relational database that supports the data library.
This is the most complete search option. A computer-generated index of the entire data library is searched to find pages containing the search query. Output is ranked according to the algorithm's relevence ranking.
How to search:
If you are looking for general information about a specific protein, start with that protein's home page.
If you are looking for a specific type of information about one or more proteins try using the field-based system for retrieving information from the database that supports the Data Library.
If you have a vague idea of what information you want, try using the clickable site map.
If you know exactly what type of information you want, but don't know where to find it, try the alphabetical index.
If you are looking for pages in which your search string is one of the main topics, try the search of information in page headers, provided above.
If you are looking for a graphic about a topic or protein, search the information in page headers, using graphic and the topic or protein as the search string. You can also try to browse the picture gallery.
If you are looking for all pages in which your search string appears, or if the search in the page headers does not provide the information you want, try the search of an index of the data library
If you can not find the information you want, you can e-mail the library administrator for assitance.
