Conformations of Interhelical Interfaces in EF-Hand Domains

Conformations of interhelical interfaces in EF-hand domains: schematic drawing of the four interhelical conformations observed in the clsoed, open, and semi-open conformations of EF-hand domains. The anti-parrallel conformation in panel A is seen in all interfaces in the closed conformation, the I/IV and II/III interfaces in the open conformation, and the I/IV interface in the semi-open conformation. The inverted-V shaped interface shown in panel B is seen in the I/II and III/IV interfaces in the open conformation,a nd the I/II and II/IV interfaces in the semi-open conformation. The V-shaped interface seen in panel C is found only in the II/III interface of the semi-open conformation. The offset X-shaped interface shown in panel D is found only in the III/IV interface of the semi-open conformation.
