Calbindin D9k Mutant: A14 deleted + A15D + P20G + N21 deleted + P43M
Engineered mutant of calbindin D9k, from Bos taurus (InfoCard)

General Effects of the Mutation:
- Proton NMR assignments indicate that this mutant adopts the canonical EF hand fold (binding with side chains, not the backbone). However, the calcium-loaded state seems to adopt the same global fold ("closed") as the wildtype protein, in which the first binding loop binds calcium with mostly its backbone atoms. (InfoCard)
Physical Properties of the Mutant:
Ca Binding Constants (low salt:) :
K1 = 1.2 x 108 +/- 2 x 107; K2 = 1.2 x 107 +/- 2 x 106
(measured by: competitive chelator pH: 7.5 temperature: 25 degrees Celsius buffer: 0.002 M Tris-HCl )
