Nmode uses the RRHO (rigid-rotor, harmonic oscillator) approximation to
compute thermodynamics. The relevant formulas are given in virtually any
physical chemistry textbook (that covers statistical mechanics). McQuarrie's
books (either Statistical Thermodynamics or Statistical Mechanics) have
particularly clear explanations.
