This has been discussed many times on the list. Go to the Amber web site,
enter "cannot find lXt", click "mailing list archives" and follow a few of the
top hits. (Note that you have to leave out the "-" sign from the query, since
the "-" sign tells the search to *omit* anything related to lXt.)

Briefly, you either don't have the X development libraries installed, or the
configure script is not finding the 64-bit versions. You have several
options, that are outlined in the mail messages.

[Amber 8 was released before there were very many emt64 machines around. This
problem and others are fixed in version 9, so you might want to consider an
upgrade.]
