The closest I can come to this is using ifort 9.0.026 on our SGI altix, and
it works fine for me.

One final question: what flags did you give to configure?

I'm cc-ing this to Roberto Gomperts at SGI, who may have some good ideas.
(Roberto: this is an sgi altix, amber8, with the compiler listed above.
The parallel test cases, such as tip4p, are all failing.)
