Download the EM64T version of the Intel compiler. This gets installed by
default in /opt/intel/fce/9.0/ (Note the 'e' on fce).

Then

cd $AMBERHOME/src/
./configure -static ifort_x86_64
make clean
make

This will get you a 64 bit version of AMBER on your AMD64 machine.
