Dear All,
It has come to my attention that a lot of people seem to be having problems
compiling Amber 8 with ifort v8.1. While I have tried this myself and not
run into problems it appears that there are a number of bugs with the
current v8.1 on x386 machines (AMD/INTEL). For example the error
ifort: "could not find directory in which g++ resides"
Is discussed here:

My advice to everybody for the moment is, unless you have a compelling
reason to use ifort v8.1, go to http://premier.intel.com and download
v8.0.046 of ifort. This version is known to work with Amber 8 on the largest
number of different machine set-ups. Note, earlier versions of the v8.0
compilers contained bugs so avoid these.
So, if you run into problems compiling Amber 8 for 32 bit linux machines
please try ifort v8.0.046 before you post to the list.
All the best
Ross
