Well, it *should* work, but the R5000 chip has always been the real
odd-ball from SGI. We don't have one here to test, but maybe people
on the list will reply with good or bad experience.

You will need a couple of hundred megabytes of disk space; 128 Mb of
memory is certainly a minimum, but should be OK for systems up to
15,000 atoms or so. You will need fortran and C compilers, either from
SGI or from GNU (g77/gcc).

Given these problems and uncertainties, you might really want to consider
a newer computer. An Intel or AMD-based computer that costs roughly US $600
(without monitor) would outperform your O2 by a large margin. If money
is tight, ask the Amber people for a fee waiver, and use the money towards
the newer machine.
