In your home directory, mkdir public_html, and mkdir images inside that.
Browse our web pages (or any you like, really), to find one you'd like to use as a template. Copy
it into public_html, and name it index.html. This will be your main page.
Edit that file with your information. You can either:
Open the page in netscape composer, and work in WYSIWYG mode. This is quicker, but can be
frustrating because you won't have fine control over the format.
Use a text editor to edit the HTML code. If you don't know HTML, you can learn it in about an hour
by doing a Google search on "HTML tutorial". In the long run, you'll probably be happier doing it this way.
Basics to include are: contact information, a description of your
research project/interests, a CV or list of publications, and a link back to the Chazin main page.
You can add as many links and additional pages as you want.
Note that virtually the entire Structbio website has a simple, clean design, with black text on a white background.
This is not mandatory, but it certainly works well. I personally think it's a good idea to include the header that
Jarrod designed on most of your pages, as well.
When you're happy with your work, make sure that there's a link on the group
page (/sb/www/html/chazin/group.html) that points to your personal page.
Walter has said that he doesn't feel like any of our work needs to be kept secret, but if you want some of your
pages restricted, this can be done easily.
