The primary system for crystal screening in the crystallography facility is the Oxford Diffraction XcaliburPX2 Ultra located in Room 862 of Robinson Research Building. The system is based on a sealed-tube X-ray source and represents a very reliable and stable platform for X-ray diffraction screening. The system uses a 165 mm CCD area detector called ONYX. The detector is mounted on a kappa axis goniometer to allow for easy crystal orientation. The ONYX is designated as the detector to use for crystal screening. It is, however, fully capable for complete data collection.
