Path to Vanderbilt and Research Interests:
I graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a B.S. in Biological Sciences and a minor in Chemistry in 2008. During the next two years I worked for Dr. Thomas Kleyman at Pitt. The research in the lab was focused on epithelial sodium channels and my project focused on determining metal binding sites in the channel.

I decided I wanted to attend graduate school and chose Vanderbilt. I was unsure of the type of research I wanted to do and IGP would allow me to explore a wide variety of topics. I decided I enjoyed structural biology and joined the laboratory of Dr. Benjamin Spiller. My project focuses on studying influenza hemagglutinin-antibody interactions through the use of X-ray crystallography.
