Borden Lacy and Jens Meiler named Inaugural Chancellor Faculty Fellows

Congratulations to CSB core faculty members Borden Lacy, Ph.D., and Jens Meiler, Ph.D., for being selected as part of the first cohort of the Chancellor Faculty Fellows Program.

"The strong commitment to education, discovery and care demonstrated by these faculty members is having an enormous impact on Vanderbilt and its mission of serving society," Chancellor Nicholas S. Zeppos said.

Drs. Lacy and Meiler are among fifteen faculty members chosen for the program and will hold the title of Chancellor Faculty Fellow for two years while being supported by an unrestricted allocation of funds to be used for innovative research, scholarship and creative expression activities that further propel their careers.

Dr. Lacy, Associate Professor of Pathology, Microbiology and Immunology and Associate Professor of Biochemistry, focuses on understanding the mechanisms by which bacterial protein toxins contribute to pathogenesis using a combination of structural, biochemical and cell-based functional methods in her laboratory.

Dr. Meiler, Associate Professor of Chemistry and Associate Professor of Pharmacology, seeks to fuse computational and experimental efforts to investigate proteins, the fundamental molecules of biology and their interactions with small molecule substrates, therapeutics or probes with his research.

The Chancellor Faculty Fellows Program was launched in September 2014 to support outstanding faculty who have recently received tenure. The inaugural class includes representation from the humanities, social sciences, natural & physical sciences and the clinical sciences.
