no species information The conformational change between one calcium ion bound and one zinc ion bound and one calcium ion bound states involves:
  • Asp 24 (which is part of the N-terminal EF-hand loop and binds zinc) turns away from the zinc-binding site and imposes a conformational change in the otherwise distorted EF-loop that causes it to resemble a calcium-bound loop. Thus, binding/release of zinc from the protein could have an impact on the calcium affinity.
