Subject: [AMBER] Error when installing amber11 on OpenSuse

Hi Amber-users

I have a problem installing amber11 on an 8-core intel xeon machine. The
serial install works fine (tests pass) and the parallel (with lamsource
and ifort) apparently too. However, when I try testing the parallel one I
get

> ../../exe/lamboot
../../exe/lamboot: /lib/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.7' not found (required
by ../../exe/lamboot)

lamboot wants glibc2.7, which on opensuse (and several other distros) is
not present and hard to find (Installing a glibc2.7 rpm from another
distro seems possible, but wont make our admnin happy). Or do I need to
install the glibc-devel package?

Before I try upgrading the installed OS, I just wanted to check if anyone
has encountered the same problem (couldnt find it on the reflector) or if
Im doing something obvious wrong. Does lam really require glibc2.7? It
seems to me that many people would have difficulties with that.

Kind Regards,

Thomas
