First, check to see if the above are the first errors reported; if not, please
report the first error and a few lines before and after. (I suspect some
problem with portableC.h, but am just guessing here.)

Second, please let us know the exact version of your C compiler. (This is
C code, not Fortran, so g95 is not relevant here.)
