I will take a look at this problem, it is unlikely
in my opinion that MAXNPTRS is a problem, rather
that there is something amiss with your system
or the way the list is being built.

The error message that is being printed out is
an outdated one, there is no parameter MAXNPTRS in
any include file, in fact, as far as I can tell,
there is no ewald.inc.

maxnptrs is calculated for your system at
startup time and so it is either not being
calculated correctly, or it is not being broadcast
correctly.

Can you take a look at the whole output and find a line at the initialization
part that says something like:

Max number of pointers =

That might help in getting to the bottom of this.
